WHAT TO EXPECT
Prior to treatment, the area should be cleansed and make-up free, and sun exposure and self-tanners should be avoided for 14 days prior to laser treatment. The procedure takes 30 minutes or less to perform. A slight discomfort may be felt with each laser pulse, sometimes described as the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. After the procedure, the area treated may become red and raised, like a cat scratch or a bruise, for up to several days following the treatment. Excessive activity should be avoided for a day or two after the procedure. The side effects of the treatment are minimal, and may include redness, swelling, hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin), hypopigmentation (lightening of the skin), blistering, and purpura (a laser bruise).  These typically do not last for more than a few days. Results may take up to 6 weeks for full effectiveness.
